I definitely drank too much coffee over the weekend when I worked 53 hours over a four day period at the hospital. And these hours were all done at night.
My main symptom of coffee overdose was: Heart Palpitations, and some fast heart rhythms. Darn. I just had to rest, and now I feel great, with no interest in coffee, at all!!
I have a book cover for my book, "Prayer Prescriptions: Spiritual Remedies For Long Lasting Health" thanks to Gypsy Owl, Deb Bryant! A book without a cover, does not have what an author needs to attract her readers!
I just came from the hospital and am half way through a 40 hour work stint, all night work, of course. Everyone should have the pleasure of working night shift! It creates flexibility of mind, body and spirit.
Onward to editing and facing down the inner critic!
It is hard to believe that it is November already. But it is.
October 28 marked the and of the Mayan Calendar. Certainly everything has changed and all of the systems, Corporations and banks are falling apart.
Just now I passed the occupy encampment in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Lancaster, Pennsylvania has a model occupy encampment and nonviolence is the rule. I went to the mayor's office here in Lancaster today to let him know how much we appreciate his leadership as pertains to the Occupy movement here.
Our mayor loves Harley-Davidson's. We gave him a book about Harley-Davidson motorcycles as a token of our appreciation.
Compassionate leadership is what is needed in all arenas right now. We certainly could use it in the hospitals where we work. Medicine has been taken over by the corporations, who are not people, contrary to what our Supreme Court thinks. The Corporations which have taken over medicine are the health insurance companies and the pharmaceutical companies.
But we can do better. Last night on my radio show, Donna Smith, documentary subject of Michael Moore's SiCKO, was my guest. We had a wonderful time. You can listen here.
We did discuss the sorry health care situation in this country. 100,000 people die every year here in America because they lack access to healthcare.
The iPhone 4S is here and today was the day of its launch! Here where I live, the phones weren't sold out. But plenty of people were visiting the Apple Store and they were buying the iPhone 4S as well as a brisk iPad business ..
This picture was spontaneously taken outside my window, and place right here in this blog post, right on the iPhone, itself.
I am taking the phone to Wall Street to take live video. And after that, I will use the phone to promote my new book: "Prayers To Heal."
I need to think about exactly how I should be doing that.
But this weekend, I refuse to think about my book. It is already completed in the world of spirit. So I will allow it to have a life of its own!
My friend Joel is meeting me and we are going to see Thich Nhat Hahn together for a day of mindfulness. I know I am in for a change. I know not what it is, but that is the beauty and the healing of it all.
Here is my dog, Ulysses, with Trouble The Dog Duncan. Ulysses was ill when this was taken, but the presence of Trouble and about fifteen other interventions, helped Ulysses to recover.
Healing comes from unexplained sources more often than not. As nurses, we would do well to allow the healing to happen, and accept it rather than deny it.
As nurses, we do a much better job when we open our minds, rather than close them.
This whole radio show was a Prayer Reading which turned out to be auspicious. Soon after, my radio show was picked up by New World Library, publisher of Eckhart Tolle's books, to interview newly published authors. For that, I will be eternally grateful!
A Prayer Reading is something I thought I would try on the radio show, to see if this practice would be a good one to continue in the future.
Prayer is a Universal Language. Certainly everyone in any religion or spiritual walk of life has the inner vision to pray, prayerfully. This practice has a humbling effect upon the psyche. It is a meditation. And meditation is also a prayer.
So Prayer Readings will become a regular spot on my radio show. The next one will be in the New Year.
Today, I closed out my extra blogs here at typepad, and will be concentrating exclusively on my Typepad Blog. Excusively as far as Typepad is concerned. I realize I will be doing bedside nursing for awhile more. So I will have a few more thoughts about healing and nurse healing. Stay tuned.
Just because it seems like I've said everything it is possible to say about this subject, I realize, just as I have been writing prayers for these last two years, that a new seed is always waiting to germinate, always waiting to take root and grow.
There is a never ending abundance of ideas that when fueled with good will, go on to heal the world.
I pulled this video off one of the blogs I shut down. Some of you may have seen this before. Notice the reaction of Ulysses The Dog when he hears the word, "Riffle." He loves the river, the rocks on the bottom of the river and the fish that jump out of the water. Now that Autumn is here, and the nights are chilly, Ulysses and I are no longer swimming up to the rock and back.
I've been thinking of Nurse Healers, again, and resurrected this Nurse Healer Blog yesterday. I feel there's so much that is good about nurses and nursing, but many of my colleagues are so close to what they do that a larger perspective is lost. No one even considers that she might be a healer.
The un-healing climate of most hospitals and clinics might have something to do with it. These places have become a business and therefore, very business like. Naturally, an individual can choose to ignore the Corporate Takeover of Medicine and concentrate on calling in the angels with her patients. But to ignore the noise and the machines and the toxic medicines can be like living in an Ivory Tower of truthlessness. Something's got to give.
And that's the point: Giving. Giving of self for others selflessly. Negating the complaining. Rising above the drama. Being there only for patients and their families.
And rising above the potential for burnout. We've all experienced burnout at some time or another by taking too much on before we learn to say "no." Sudden crises at home can disturb equilibrium. All of this and more can help us to establish a greater sense of Self. Or lose all sense of Self. The choice is entirely ours but please know that we don't have to be a victim.
Unless you want to be.
Please God/ess help the Healers take heed of what needs to be done in the world. This is not the time to recede in a weakened position or condition. This is the time to own Personal Strength and Power.
This is the time to shine brightly, like the light upon the river or the most luminous Planet near a waxing moon. This may be the most exciting time that Humans have ever experienced in Linear History.
This blog is waiting for me to take it to a whole new level. It is urging me to use it in a unique way that stands out from simply another place to repost the prayers from the Pray To Heal Blog at Crabbysbeach.
The name of this blog is Nurse Healers. So from now on, Nurse Healer issues will be addressed.
Dear Godess, The energy of prayer is not something that is "sent" and "received." We do not require that it go anywhere, because it is omnipresent: it exists everywhere. A prayer that is focused on a person or an animal halfway across the world is as powerful as a prayer that is focused on the family next door.
All energy exists in the now and it is not stronger or weaker the farther it goes. The energy of prayer is immediate, meaning that which is focused near or far is happening in the present moment, and happens simultaneously. This is how Quantum Physics describes the effects of prayer.
ESP and clairvoyance works in this way, as well. Naturally these explanations add to the mystery of how and why prayer works. We are satisfied that it does work, and as we learn to drop the need for rational explanations, we work more on the energy of Faith to pray, and to pray often.
Love, compassion and non-judgment set the foundation for prayer and its effects. A good time to pray is when you feel your buttons being pushed, and a resistance rising up to confront the "what is" of what is occurring in your life.
Why do we fight on the battleground of the mind? Why can't we detached and find that the battleground is not a fact but a figment of a made up illusion?
A good example for me is the Bush Era torture practices still employed now by the military. Obama could outlaw torture but he so far has not. Whenever I think of this, I lose all sense of balance or calm.
I am sure we all have our own push button hot points.
What do we do about these?
Pause and pray, asking the Divine to erase and clean the identity we cling to, and replace it with the Identity we aspire to.
